JOSEPH (JOE) CHARLES FRIEND MARCH 31, 1946 – JANUARY 26., 2015
Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Joseph Charles Friend passed away on January 26, 2015 at the age of 68 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Lucille; daughters: Larissa (Rod) Ince, and Lauren (Neal) Comeau; grandchildren: Mikayla, Karson and Vanessa Ince, Kiera and Mason Comeau; brothers: Glen and Charlie; sisters: Leila, Selma and Doria; special nephew, Dean Braun (Ursula and Adeline); his brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Don and Gloria Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Joe was predeceased by his mother, Fatima; father, Charles; and sister, Nadia.

Joseph was born in London, England. From that time until present, he travelled extensively. He had a long and successful career as a military medic, serving with the Canadian Airborne Regiment in Edmonton and then with the Canadian Forces in Europe (10 years), where he and his family were able to travel to many destinations. He retired from the military after 27 years. Joe’s second career was as a Health and Safety Auditor and Contract Trainer with the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) until his retirement in 2012.

A Celebration of Life will be held between 2:00-5:00 p.m., on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Joseph’s name to Canadian Cancer Society Alberta/NWT Division, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 9Z9 or the Wounded Warriors Canada, #4, 310 Byron Street South, Whitby, Ontario L1N 4P8.

The family wishes to extend its deep gratitude to Dr. J. Rokosh and staff at the Liberton Clinic, as well as the staff at Sturgeon Community Hospital, especially the nurses on Units 15 and 18. We are so grateful for your care and compassion during our most difficult time.
